The Bengaluru Police is set to install 250 high-end cameras at 50 major road junctions around the city in order to track violations.

Story so far: The Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) will be launched by the Bengaluru Police at 50 crucial intersections. At these 50 junctions in Bengaluru, high-tech cameras will record any traffic violations.

  • The Bengaluru Police claims that without police assistance, the ITMS will track traffic violations.
  • The automated system generates a notice and sends the challan to the violator via SMS.

Types of violations: The ITMS can identify a wide range of traffic violations, including speeding, running red lights, failing to stop at stop signs, failing to wear a helmet, triple riding, texting while driving, and driving without a seatbelt.
