Bengaluru’s IISc won a prestigious national-level award for its prowess in the fundamentals of science.

Story so far: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has won the Praj-IISER Pune ‘Mimamsa 2023’ – a coveted National Level award for Science. Four teams made it to finals, including IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Madras.

  • Around 4,800 students from 450 colleges in India participated in the Pune-based competition. The participation of ‘All Girls teams’ witnessed a 66% uptick from last year.
  • Dr Pramod Chaudhari, Founder and Executive Chairman of Praj Industries, presented the award to IISc Bangalore at the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research’s (IISER) CV Raman Auditorium.

About the award: The Mimamsa competition is an effort to redraw the focus on the fundamentals of science. Such a focus is necessary for innovation and research, said Chaudhari. Over the past three years, Mimamsa grew by 375% in student participation and 312% in institute participation.
