As waterfalls near the city reopen, they’ve become an attraction for residents.

What’s it about? Waterfalls in Nagalapuram, 70 km from Chennai, have reopened recently, and residents have begun to flock there. They’re open from 8 am till 3 pm. With no public transport access, people use private vehicles. Other notable falls in Andhra Pradesh have been closed since 2018 due to some deaths and a lack of security.

  • As some waterfalls have recently reopened with security and forest rangers, trekkers and nature lovers have thronged there. One of the major attractions is Aare falls.
  • Nagalapuram has three waterfalls, but only one is open now. There’s still work to be done in terms of basic facilities like toilets and signboards.

Other attractions: Apart from the falls, there are about a dozen small streams. There’s also a temple that several tourists visit.
