Mahabodhi burns centre introduces new facilities for patients’ convenience.

Story so far: Under a new initiative, ‘Single Bed Single Patient’, Victoria Hospital will offer separate rooms and remote-operated beds to all burns victims. Now, patients admitted to the Mahabodhi burns ward can avail of quality treatment, free from cross-infection.

  • The HoD for Plastic Surgery and Burns reveals that the ward receives around 200 burn patients per month. Patients from different parts of the state visit the hospital for its specialised care. During their stay, cross-infection is of vital concern to the staff.
  • The beds are similar to the ones in advanced intensive care units (ICU) that are operated in the least inconvenient way for the patients.

Why it matters? Doctors reveal that the burns ward’s upgraded facilities have helped them treat patients with dignity and care. The remote-controlled bed helps them attend to burns without moving or lifting the patients. Besides the new changes, the Mahabodhi burns centre is equipped to treat third-degree burns, and the hospital has a skin bank.
