The successful mitigation model adopted at the Ripon Building will be replicated at bus stands and depots.
What’s it about? The Corporation will adopt the same flood mitigation model used at the Ripon Building at bus stands and depots. The Ripon Building became prone to flooding after the Metro rail construction. On Monday, the officials met to discuss the methodology and hope to complete the work by this year’s northeast monsoon.
- At the Ripon Building, large sumps were built, and motors pumped water to the Buckingham Canal during the rainy season. Once this was done, the place hadn’t seen any flooding.
- More than 50% of bus stands of the MTC in more than 35 locations have been affected by waterlogging. It has become an issue in places like Anna Nagar West, T Nagar, and Broadway.
