The plumbers’ association is organising a marathon to increase water conservation awareness.
Story so far: To make water conservation a central community concern, the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) is organising ‘IPA Neerathon’, a water awareness festival and marathon, on April 9. The organisers are expecting over a thousand participants.
- The whole architects-builders-consultants fraternity will participate. Interested runners can register on the marathon’s official website.
- Neerathon will have three categories, a 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km run. While the 3 km run will be a fun run, the 10k and 5k runs will be competitive and offer cash prizes that amount to ₹1.76 lakh.
Why though? IPA hopes to increase public participation in water conservation through this community event. The need to conserve and reuse freshwater is urgent. Populations in areas with water shortages need to undergo a lifestyle change that prioritises water.
