Good morning, Bengaluru!

🌧️ Today’s weather: High: 33 ℃ | Low: 23 ℃ | Partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.

🏫 Masai School’s innovative approach

Masai School, founded by IIT graduate Prateek Shukla, offers coding courses with a unique pay-after-placement model, empowering over 5,000 graduates since its inception in 2019.

How it works: Masai School provides rigorous 25-30 week courses in full stack web development, data analytics, and software testing and automation, emphasizing AI due to its future relevance. Students only start paying fees after securing a job with a salary above ₹3.5 lakh per annum. Payment amounts are based on salary brackets, and dropouts within the first six weeks incur no fees.

  • The school collaborates with IIT Guwahati and IIT Mandi for additional courses and regularly updates course material through monthly meetings with CTOs of top companies.
  • Courses require about 12 hours of daily commitment. The faculty includes 120 full-time and 300 part-time experienced software professionals, all undergoing a four-week training program before teaching.

Success stories: The school has transformed lives, such as Aman Kashyap, a former Swiggy delivery agent now working as a software engineer, and Mohammed Tanveer, who, despite dropping out after Class 5, now works as a software engineer. Other graduates, like Puja Kumari from Jharkhand, have also found success in tech roles.

  • Vishwakiran emphasizes that art should reflect cities and cultures, promoting the idea that “art is for everyone.”
  • His career began as a principal dancer for Nritarutya before he ventured into independent choreography and dance film direction.

Purchase details: The 52,272 square feet property was sold by Venture Projects Bangalore Private Limited, with the sale deed signed on March 1, 2024. Narayana Health, founded by heart surgeon Devi Shetty, operates 18 hospitals and three heart centres across India, along with a facility in the Cayman Islands.

  • The southern parts of Bengaluru are experiencing a significant rise in real estate prices, catching up with the eastern IT corridor.

Rising real estate prices: Real estate prices in south Bengaluru areas such as Kanakapura Road, Electronic City, Bannerghatta Road, JP Nagar, and BTM Layout have increased by 10-15% since December 2023. In contrast, the eastern and northern parts of the city have seen consistent quarterly price jumps over the past few years.

🚌 Electric bus services disrupted

Bengaluru Metropolitan Transportation Corporation (BMTC) faced disruptions in electric bus services during the morning peak hour due to a strike by outsourced driving staff demanding better pay.

Interruption of bus services: The strike affected 113 non-AC e-buses, disrupting 27 schedules from the first shift (7 am to 2 pm) and 46 schedules from the regular shift (7 am to 5 pm). Operations resumed around 11 am after company representatives convinced the drivers to return to work. BMTC clarified that the strike did not affect electric buses from other depots, and the responsibility lay with TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited, which supplies and maintains the buses under a Gross Cost Contract (GCC).

  • The strike was initiated by drivers seeking better salaries, higher overtime payments, and free travel on all RTC buses.
  • The drivers, earning a gross salary of ₹22,000 with ₹18,000 in hand, demanded the initially promised ₹26,000 per month.

Protest demands: The drivers, hired on a contractual basis, sought improved compensation and benefits. Currently, they can only travel free on BMTC buses, but they demanded this privilege for all RTC buses.
