🚆 Frequent Mysuru-Bengaluru trains
The Railway Board plans frequent trains between Mysuru and Bengaluru.
What’s it about? The Railway Board aims to operate trains every 10 minutes between Mysuru and Bengaluru, part of a project to quadruple existing tracks. This enhanced connectivity will facilitate faster, safer travel and economic growth in the region.
- Trains will include exclusive Mysuru-Bengaluru and extended routes.
- Electrification works and suburban system integration are planned.
Less traffic: The project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the commuter experience.
⚠️ Massive land encroachment
Bengaluru faces significant government land encroachment issues.
What’s it about? The Karnataka Revenue Department revealed that private parties have encroached upon 38,947 acres of government land in the Bengaluru Urban district. Yelahanka taluk experienced the highest encroachment, followed by Anekal taluk. Similar issues are reported in the Bengaluru Rural district, totalling 12,609 acres of encroached land.
- The total encroached government land in both Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts is 51,555 acres.
- The government has cleared significant portions of these encroachments over the years.
State count: The state’s total government land encroachment is about 14.72 lakh acres. The Revenue Minister highlighted the involvement of officials in these encroachments and mentioned that stern actions are being taken against them.
🚦 Advanced traffic signals
Bengaluru is set to improve traffic flow with Japanese technology-based signals.
What’s it about? Bengaluru’s Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) is set to enhance traffic management using Japan’s MODERATO technology. These adaptive traffic signals, primarily in the central business district, aim to reduce congestion and streamline pedestrian crossings. Initiated in 2014, the project faced delays but is now nearing completion with electrical connectivity being established.
- The Adaptive Signal Control Technology (ASCT) aims to optimize waiting times at intersections.
- The project covers 28 junctions, excluding one due to metro construction.
To begin soon: This Japan International Cooperation Agency-funded initiative will soon be operational, significantly improving city traffic management.
🍲 UTK’s Bengaluru debut
United Telugu Kitchens opens in Bengaluru, expanding its culinary reach.
What’s it about? United Telugu Kitchens (UTK), known for its authentic Telugu cuisine, has launched its first Bengaluru outlet at the South Bengaluru Forum Mall.
- The brand already has a footprint in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
- The menu showcases traditional, nostalgia-infused Telugu dishes.
