🏠 Floods prompt property sales

Ongoing flooding in Bengaluru is driving property owners in affected areas to sell their homes, often at reduced prices.

Recent sales: In Northwood residential enclave, a villa owner is selling his ₹2.5 crore property following recent floods. Similarly, a villa in Rainbow Drive Layout is being sold after the owner moved due to recurrent flooding.

  • Properties in Sri Sai Layout are also being sold at significant losses.
  • Residents are urging government intervention to address the flooding issues.

Resident concerns: Developers are coordinating with BBMP to address drainage issues, but residents remain concerned as monsoon approaches, fearing further property devaluation and damage.


🛰️ GalaxEye tests SAR technology on HAPS

Bengaluru-based GalaxEye successfully tested its synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology on a high-altitude pseudo-satellite (HAPS) developed by the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), marking a world-first for a private entity.

Test details: The SAR technology allows for all-weather, all-time imaging by overcoming cloud cover limitations. This collaboration between GalaxEye and NAL aims to advance aerospace capabilities, with the test showcasing India’s technological prowess.

  • The test supports the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
  • It has potential applications in national defence, environmental monitoring, and disaster management.

Future developments: Ongoing R&D and further tests will refine SAR capabilities, integrating them into practical HAPS applications. GalaxEye has also partnered with ISRO and DRDO for radar imaging via UAVs.


🏘️ Shriram Properties signs JDA for Yelahanka project

Shriram Properties Limited has entered a Joint Development Agreement for a 4-acre housing project in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, with an estimated revenue potential of ₹250 crore.

Project details: The project will include 270 apartments with a saleable area of around 3.8 lakh sq ft, targeting a launch in H1-FY25. It promises convenient access to Yelahanka, Bangalore International Airport, schools, healthcare facilities, and retail experiences.

  • Shriram Properties has a pipeline of 47 projects, including 25 ongoing projects.
  • The company’s CMD, Murali Malayappan, highlighted Yelahanka’s demand and the project’s alignment with their growth strategy.

Strategic significance: This development emphasises Shriram Properties’ asset-light approach and aims to capitalise on Yelahanka’s emerging micro-market. The company’s strong project pipeline underscores its commitment to expanding its footprint in Bengaluru.


🏨 OYO launches CricOtel for cricket lovers

OYO has launched CricOtel, a cricket-themed hotel in Bilekahalli, Bengaluru, near the Indian Institute of Management, dedicated to cricket enthusiasts.

Hotel features: CricOtel boasts 15 rooms themed around India’s iconic cricket victories, such as the 1983 Champions Den and World Cup 2011 Suite. The hotel includes a stadium-themed central hall, a wall of fame, cricket memorabilia, a pitch-like hallway, and a neon selfie point.

  • The hotel aims to provide a unique cricket experience and perfect settings to watch cricket together.
