🪴 Temple’s organic compost in demand

Banashankari Temple’s initiative to convert floral and kitchen waste into organic compost is a huge success, with demand outstripping supply.

Selling like hot cakes: For the past three months, the temple has sold 368 kg of compost at ₹20 per kg, exclusively to customers who pre-book. The compost is made from daily waste generated by the temple, including flowers, leaves, and kitchen scraps, which are converted into compost in concrete pits over a period of 40 days.

  • The composting process involves removing non-compostable items, mixing the waste with cocopeat, and allowing it to decompose.
  • The finished compost is then sundried, sieved, and made available for sale at the temple.

Sustainable gardening: The temple’s compost is popular among devotees, with customers reporting improved growth in their gardens after using the compost. The initiative not only helps in waste management but also promotes sustainable gardening practices among the community.

  • The startup has seen positive traction, with some courts being fully booked in certain locations.
  • Game Theory raised $2 million in seed funding last year and expects to double its user base in the next one and a half months.

Global market: The global sports technology market is expected to reach $40.6 billion by 2026, indicating significant growth potential for the sportstech sector. Game Theory’s expansion plans in Bengaluru are a step towards tapping into this growing market.
