TikTok influencer and dancer Noel Robinson collaborated with Chennai’s Team Anartana.

What’s it about? Noel’s travel across the country brought him to Chennai, resulting in a collaboration with one of the city’s most renowned dance groups, Team Anartana. Together, they added some unique flair to Vijay’s song Vaadi Vaadi.

  • Noel wanted to collaborate on a classical piece and a kuthu number was the right fit. The group taught him the steps and felt it would be the right option given his freestyle background.
  • The dance was choreographed by Anjana, one of Team Anartana’s members and shot at Semmozhi Poonga in front of a large crowd.

What does the future hold? For Team Anartana, this experience has prompted them to produce more folk dances and explore more classical dance. The collaboration with Neal also helps them reach a wider audience.

Design studio Bricks and Beams helps clients conceptualise their interior and exterior spaces.

What’s it about? The interior design studio Bricks and Beams in Uthandi conceptualises and designs architectural works for interior and exterior spaces. The company has worked on several projects including homes, offices, and retail spaces.

  • The studio is a space for clients to see and experience their concepts firsthand. The team meets with clients and brainstorms designs to be showcased.
  • The studio was designed not to reflect traditional Chettinad or Chettiar house aesthetics. The space has items sourced from the founder’s travels.

Unique items: The central court, where the design process began, set the tone for the rest of the space. Among the items present are repurposed doors and windows from a Puducherry store and chinaware, antique bottles and a chandelier, all custom-made by the team.

๐Ÿผ Crackdown on medical stores

Food safety and health department officials in the city are cracking down on stores selling breast milk.

What’s it about? Food safety officials in the city have seized several bottles of pasteurized breast milk sachets and powder from a warehouse in Arumbakkam and a hospital in Harrington Road. Health department officials are now on the lookout to see if doctors are involved.

  • The Chennai wing of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics has advised its members to not promote such products. On Monday, officials seized over 380 bottles of Neolacta PHBM breast milk and 450 sachets of milk powder.
  • A tip about the Chennai distributor came from food safety officials in Tiruvallur who raided a shop in Madhavarram last week.

Its possible origins? A complaint was received from Bengaluru’s Neolacta Life Sciences Pvt Ltd that a staff member quit and started a breast milk production unit.

The Chennai Corporation is set to demolish and rebuild 100 km of pavements to make them more accessible.

What’s it about? The Chennai Corporation’s revamp of pavements will target bus routes. Many of the pavements on these roads were laid a decade ago and have suffered damage due to repeated civil utility works over the years. The first phase will cover 50 km.

  • The new class-B pavements will be simpler than the T Nagar Pedestrian Plaza with amenities like benches in some locations. To prevent encroachments, they’ll have grills.
  • Among the roads selected in the first phase include Haddows Road, Harrington Road, Lloyds Road, Anna Salai, and the interior roads of Shanti Colony in Anna Nagar.

Additional benefits: The Corporation will plant saplings every 15 metres along the pavement in steel cylindrical enclosures. These improvements are expected to benefit over 600 schools and 220 economically weaker sections.
