IISc Bengaluru introduces a groundbreaking, electricity-free water pumping technology for agriculture.

What’s it about? Associate Professor Punit Singh from IISc Bengaluru has developed a sustainable water pumping system that operates without electricity. This innovation is set to revolutionise irrigation in Chhattisgarh, addressing the region’s agricultural challenges.

  • The technology utilises turbine pumps to leverage river water flow, efficiently generating torque to drive submersible pumps.
  • A collaboration between IISc and Chhattisgarh’s Water Resources Department aims to implement this system across various sites, enhancing water management and irrigation.

Cult.sport opens its first physical store in Bengaluru, diversifying its retail presence.

What’s it about? Cult.sport has launched an offline store in Bengaluru, aligning with India’s growing sports apparel market. The market, valued at $673.34 million in 2022, is projected to reach $1,926.10 million by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 16.2%.

  • This expansion aims to improve access to the brand’s extensive sports and fitness products.
  • Two more Bengaluru stores and 20 nationwide stores are planned by 2024, enhancing the brand’s reach.
