A new exhibition showcases the work of artists from different backgrounds.
What’s it about? Chennai-based artist Viswam organised a new exhibition called A Mixed Bag at the Lalit Kala Akademi to showcase works from different backgrounds. Initially planned as a one-man show, he included works from his friends at the Pallava Artist Village.
- The exhibition is a space for accomplished artists and newcomers. It also paid tribute to several rural artists who passed away. For sculptor E Elancheziyan from Thiruvarur, exhibitions like this offered him a chance to network and learn from others.
- Debut curator at the Lalit Kala Akademi, Sujata Narayan, connected with artists during the pandemic. They began doing a sketch a day.
Impact of technology and AI: Viswam believes technology and digitisation have broken geographical and cultural boundaries. He believes AI can be embraced as a new tool.
๐๏ธ Ultraviolette’s new centre
Ultraviolette launched its new experience centre in Chennai.
What’s it about? The company inaugurated its new Space Station experience centre in Mount Road as part of its South Indian expansion. The centre will provide an immersive experience to showcase the company’s high-performance electric motorcycles.
- The centre is a 3S facility – sales, service, and spare parts. The centre’s flagship is its F77 Mach 2 electric motorcycle. It also has the UV SuperNova DC fast-charging infrastructure.
- The centre offers visitors an interactive experience of the company’s vision for sustainable mobility.
Expansion: This is the company’s seventh experience centre this year, reflecting its growing portfolio across Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu.

The Advertising Club Madras launched student chapters in universities across the state.
What’s it about? The Advertising Club Madras launched student chapters in universities and colleges across Tamil Nadu to bridge the gap between academia and the advertising sector. The expansion aims to provide students access to insights and skills from industry leaders.
- New chapters were launched at the MEPCO School of Management Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University, Trichy Government Arts College and Apollo Institute of Hospital Management and Allied Science.
- The partnership with MEPCO and the Madurai Kamaraj University is a significant milestone, with 159 students enrolling in the Advertising Club Madras Student Membership Program.
Program components: As part of the program, students attend customised workshops to enhance their understanding of advertising, media, and communication. The workshops and webinars focus on advertising, PR, branding, and digital marketing.
๐ MTC app
The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) will introduce a new app to book tickets and track buses.
What’s it about? The MTC will replace the existing Chennai Bus app with a new one for passengers to buy tickets and track buses. The new app will provide more accurate locations with the existing journey planning feature.
- The new app is being developed as part of the Automatic Vehicle Location System (AVLS) component under the Chennai Intelligent Transport System (CITS). The pilot project was successful, and onboard GPS systems are being installed in preparation.
- The conductor will validate pre-purchased tickets after a passenger boards a bus. A driver console will also be installed for two-way communication between the driver and the control centre staff.
Other features: LED display boards will be installed across 500 bus stops and 71 terminals in Chennai. They’ll display details on the bus route number, destination, and estimated arrival times.
