🎶 From Chennai to Los Angeles
Music producer Sanjeevi Easwar’s journey has taken him from Chennai to Los Angeles.
Who is he? Sanjeevi’s tryst with music began at the age of seven when he learnt to play an electronic keyboard. In college, he was part of bands as a keyboardist and bassist and produced music for plays and independent artists. Now, he applies his trade in Los Angeles with hip-hop and electronic music as part of his portfolio.
- His familiarity with the software being used, like Pro Tools, and a good understanding of studio gear were essential to his success as a mixing engineer.
- He has collaborated with independent artists in the US and India. His credits include background music and sound design for films like Maya, starring Anya Taylor Joy and Boudica starring, Olga Kurylenko.
What’s next? He has contributed as a sound engineer for upcoming songs by artists including Clinton Kane, Jonathan Roy, and DSmoke.
🏢 WPP’s new campus
The company opened its new campus in Chennai with a new team.
What’s it about? WPP’s Enterprise Technology team is the first to move into the new campus in Chennai, located at RMZ One Paramount. It’s the company’s third new campus in India after Mumbai and Gurgaon.
- The new campus was designed to enhance the employee experience. It has a dedicated marketplace with food and beverage options, EV charging, a daycare centre, and art installations by prominent artists.
- The 62,000 sq ft office is designed to initially accommodate 300 people in phase one, expanding to 650 by mid-2025. The circular-designed campus is sustainable, with green building materials and is LEED Platinum certified.
Future plans: The new Chennai campus will lay the foundation for the company’s global support functions. There are plans for campuses in Bengaluru and Coimbatore.
🚀 IIT Madras – ISRO partnership
IIT Madras and ISRO announced a collaboration to research Fluid and Thermal Sciences.
What’s it about? IIT Madras and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will set up a centre of excellence to research Fluid and Thermal Sciences. ISRO will provide ₹1.84 crore as seed funding for the project.
- The centre will be an important research hub for ISRO that will focus on spacecraft thermal management challenges. The projects will cover combustion instability in hybrid rockets and cryo-tank thermodynamics.
- This will be a nodal centre for ISRO’s spacecraft and launch vehicle-related thermal management research activities. IIT Madras’ expertise will be used to analyse and test thermal components.
Research and academia: The Centre will enhance collaboration between ISRO scientists and IIT Madras faculty.
🚆 Ambattur station stop
Passengers from Ambattur want local trains to stop at the Ambattur station for their commute.
What’s it about? Passengers from Ambattur, especially those who work at the Ambattur Industrial Estate, want local trains to stop at the Ambattur station. Since it’s a major station in Western Chennai, it sees a daily footfall of about 30,000.
- Currently, local fast trains don’t stop at the Ambattur station. Commuters spend extra time and money to reach their workplaces.
- In 2019, the station was a stop for the Yelagiri and Sapthagiri Express. However, due to platform constraints, it was discontinued.
Infrastructure improvement: Despite being under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), the Ambattur station doesn’t have improved facilities.
