The second edition of eARTH transforms scientific data about climate change into art and music.

What’s it about? There’s a growing disconnect between the escalating climate crisis and the insulation of people’s daily lives. To address this issue, the city-based Center for Study of Science, Technology & Policy (CSTEP) has taken a unique approach. The annual art event eARTH presents data through music, poetry, and art.

  • Reports and newspaper headlines often fail to capture the broader public’s imagination. Art can be a powerful way to convey the message through song, dance, and storytelling.
  • The event will feature an exhibition by eARTH Climate Fellows, a group of nine artists who created works of art that interpret and reflect the climate change issue. There’ll also be a poetry workshop by Slam Out Loud to craft climate-inspired poetry.

Visual learning: Climate change imagery is often shown through melting ice caps and record temperatures. It’s more than that since it impacts people’s lives through extreme weather events. The event will include screenings of videos shot by those affected by climate change.

  • ISRO has been developing cost-effective models with stack modules to enable more launches in less time.

Gaganyaan mission: ISRO also showcased the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS-1). It’s an important component of the Gaganyaan programme’s expansion. It was recently exhibited in New Delhi on National Science Day. The docking process for BAS will involve different spacecraft bringing in different modules to be assembled.

🐆 Hunt for a leopard

An early morning leopard sighting near Electronics City has caused panic among residents.

What’s it about? The leopard was spotted crossing Hosur Road near the Electronics City toll plaza at around 3 am, heading towards the Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) grounds. Despite an exhaustive search by local officials, the animal couldn’t be traced.

  • Authorities have asked residents in and around Electronics City and nearby neighbourhoods to remain vigilant and not venture out alone in the early morning or late evening. Schools and colleges in the area have been advised to take precautionary measures.
  • The Task Force is equipped with forest officials and wildlife experts working to ensure the leopard is safely captured.
