🚌 Bus traffic disrupted

The Tamil Nadu government’s ban on private buses not registered in Tamil Nadu has caused significant disruptions for Bengaluru-Kerala travellers.

What’s it about? Several passengers faced delays and were forced to find alternate routes, as the decision impacted thousands. Buses were forced to take longer routes through Kerala, Kodagu, and Mysuru to avoid Tamil Nadu.

  • Bus operators and the Karnataka State Private Transport Association are seeking intervention to resolve the issue.
  • Tamil Nadu authorities claim losses due to unregistered buses, with allegations of fake documents and rule violations.

Heavy repercussions: Bus operators claim that their buses are being stopped arbitrarily and fines between ₹10,000-20,000 are being demanded with threats of impoundment.


🛰️ GalaxEye-SkyFi partnership

GalaxEye Space and SkyFi have announced a partnership to integrate GalaxEye’s multi-sensor satellite imagery into SkyFi’s Earth observation platform.

What’s it about? Bengaluru-based GalaxEye’s technology includes Synthetic Aperture Radar and Optical/Multispectral Imaging capabilities which will be integrated into SkyFi’s platform. Their first satellite launch is planned for Q3 2024, with advanced satellites following in 2025.

  • This collaboration aims to provide detailed, weather-independent Earth observation data.
  • The partnership supports SkyFi’s mission to make satellite imagery more accessible and useful.

Policy alignment: GalaxEye’s partnership aligns with the ‘Make in India for the World’ initiative, boosting India’s role in space technology.


✈️ Hijack drill at KIA

The National Security Guard (NSG) conducted an anti-hijack drill at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport to test emergency response.

What’s it about? The drill involved a simulated hijacked aircraft and the activation of the Aerodrome Emergency Management Committee. Trained negotiators engaged with the hijackers, aiming for a peaceful resolution, with NSG intervention simulated if negotiations failed.

  • The exercise utilised advanced technologies and involved multiple stakeholders to ensure comprehensive preparedness.
  • Real-time communication systems and advanced surveillance equipment were also employed.

Multi-agency involvement: Stakeholders in the exercise included DGCA, CISF, local police, hospitals, and other aviation institutions, enhancing inter-departmental coordination and readiness for real-life scenarios.


📦 CJ Darcl leases in Narasapura

CJ Darcl Logistics has leased over 1.25 lakh sq. ft. of warehousing space from IndoSpace in Bengaluru’s Narasapura Industrial and Logistics Park.

What’s it about? The nine-year lease aims to bolster CJ Darcl’s warehousing and distribution capabilities in South India. The park, spanning 64 acres, is located 54 km from Bengaluru city centre and holds the IGBC Platinum Rating for sustainability.

  • The partnership leverages IndoSpace’s expansive reach and sustainable infrastructure to support CJ Darcl’s growth.
  • The collaboration is expected to optimise CJ Darcl’s operations and enhance customer value through advanced logistics solutions.

Expansive presence: IndoSpace offers Grade A, environmentally friendly warehouses across 11 cities and 52 parks in India.
