🧑🏽‍🔧 Two-day powercut

The city is set to face power outages on November 25 and 26 as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) carries out critical maintenance work on substations, transformers, and electrical lines across the city.

What’s it about? These outages will affect areas in the North, South, East, and West zones, with some interruptions lasting up to seven hours. BESCOM has advised residents of the following areas to prepare for service disruptions.

  • Prashantha Nagar, Saptagiri Layout, Dabaspete, SS Layout, Bramhasandragollarahatti, and Doddaagrahara will face the outage today.
  • PC Layout, Hosahalli, and Vijayanagar will be affected on November 26.

Resident advisory: Affected residents are advised to plan household activities around the scheduled outages and stay updated on changes to the schedule through BESCOM’s communication channels.

👕 M-Now launched

Myntra has launched a pilot for a two-hour delivery service called M-Now in select Bengaluru pin codes.

What’s it about? The initiative aims to explore the feasibility of ultra-fast deliveries in the fashion and lifestyle segment. During the pilot phase, M-Now will offer a curated selection of products to assess customer demand and operational efficiency.

  • Insights from this trial will inform potential expansion to other locations.
  • This builds on Myntra’s earlier M-Express service, launched in 2022, which expedited deliveries within 24-48 hours across metro cities.

Gen-Z plans: Looking ahead, Myntra aims to add 20-25 million GenZ customers over the next few years, cementing its position as a leader in catering to a digitally native and trend-conscious generation.

🌈 No Pride in Genocide

The No Pride in Genocide event was held in the city blending art and activism to spotlight the struggles of queer Palestinians.

What’s it about? Organised by Bengaluru for Justice and Peace, the program featured three short films, Sultana’s Reign, Bleeding, and Pinkwashing Exposed: Seattle Fights Back!, showcasing the lived realities of queer Palestinians facing exile, systemic violence, and colonial oppression.

  • These films highlighted the concept of “pinkwashing”, wherein LGBTQIA+ rights are used as propaganda to obscure Israel’s oppression of Palestinians.
  • A panel discussion followed, featuring Palestinian activist Haneen Maikey, along with Indian voices like lawyer Arvind Narrain, queer festival curator Namita Avitri, and activist Twisha Mehta.

Boycotts work: The event emphasised the importance of boycotts, divestment, and grassroots activism to challenge systemic oppression, pointing out the global successes in pressuring corporations to divest from oppressive regimes.

✈️ AI’s training facility

Air India is set to establish a Basic Maintenance Training Organisation (BMTO) in Bengaluru to address the increasing demand for skilled aircraft maintenance engineers as it expands its fleet.

What’s it about? The BMTO will offer a DGCA-certified 2+2-year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) programme, designed to build a future-ready aviation workforce. The initiative also aligns with Air India’s broader goal of fostering a robust aviation ecosystem in India.

  • The BMTO will be developed in partnership with Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL), a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited.
  • Spanning 86,000 square feet at Bengaluru Airport City, the facility will include modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, and expert trainers.

Dual benefit: The programme will provide graduates with specialised career paths and opportunities to pursue bachelor’s degrees through partnerships with universities, expanding their academic and professional prospects.
