What’s it about? Chef Vito, with over 45 years of expertise, has crafted an exclusive menu for Bengaluru featuring Southern Italian delicacies such as Bruschetta Alle Melanzane, Puccia Sole Della Puglia, Lasagna Alla Bolognese, and Ravioli Al Pesto Di Pistacchio.

A Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) Volvo bus lost control on the Hebbal flyover near the Esteem Mall, resulting in a multi-vehicle accident.

What’s it about? The incident was captured on the bus’s CCTV cameras and has since gone viral on social media. While the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, initial reports suggest brake failure.

  • Several vehicles, including cars and motorcycles, were damaged.
  • One person sustained serious injuries while others suffered minor wounds.

Motorists intervene: The timely intervention of other motorists prevented a more significant tragedy. The accident has raised concerns about road safety in Bengaluru, prompting calls for increased vigilance among drivers.

🛣️ BBC team set up

The Karnataka government has established a 12-member team to oversee the development of the Bengaluru Business Corridor.

What’s it about? Led by the Bengaluru Development Minister, the team comprises key officials from various government departments, including the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), BBMP, Finance, and Public Works.

  • This new entity aims to revitalise the stalled project, earlier known as the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR).
  • The BDA chairman will serve as the vice chairperson of the committee.

Monetisation plans: The state government aims to monetise the land surrounding the 73-kilometre stretch to fund the project. A fresh tender for the project’s implementation is yet to be floated.

🚇 Green line extension

Namma Metro’s Green Line extension, a 3.14-km stretch from Nagasandra to Madavara in northwestern Bengaluru, is expected to open by the end of September.

What’s it about? This extension, which includes stations at Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara, has faced significant delays, making it the slowest project in Namma Metro’s history. The delays stemmed from land acquisition challenges and financial difficulties experienced by the contractor.

  • Simplex Infrastructures Limited was awarded the contract in February 2017 with a 27-month deadline.
  • Starting August 13, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will begin signalling tests, with plans to conduct trial runs the following week if all goes well.

September targeted: BMRCL Managing Director M Maheshwar Rao stated that the results of the signalling tests would determine when the trial runs could start. The goal is to finalise everything, including statutory safety inspections, by the end of September.
