🪖 IA’s AI centre
The Indian Army has inaugurated the Indian Army Artificial Intelligence Incubation Centre (IAAIIC) in Bengaluru, reflecting its commitment to technological advancement and modern warfare readiness.
What’s it about? This initiative aligns with the Indian Army’s vision to adopt innovative technologies, enhance operational capabilities, and build an AI-ready force to address contemporary security challenges.
- Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi virtually inaugurated the facility.
- The IAAIIC will serve as a collaborative platform for academia, startups, industry leaders, and domain experts to create indigenous AI solutions tailored to the Army’s unique requirements.
R&D focus: The centre will explore applications of AI in critical areas like Predictive Maintenance, Enhanced Surveillance, Decision Support Systems, and Autonomous Platforms. Equipped with a 1-petaflop supercomputer from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), the centre is designed for advanced AI modelling and training.
🧑🏽🔧 Emergency Maintenance
The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has announced scheduled power outages for today due to emergency maintenance work by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL).
What’s it about? These efforts aim to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the future. Residents have been advised to cooperate and make necessary arrangements during the outage hours.
- The power interruption, scheduled from 10 am to 4 pm will impact localities connected to the 66/11KV LR Bande Station.
- Some of the areas to be impacted include Kavalabirasandra, LR Bande Main Road, Gandhinagar, Chinnavana Layout, Ambedkar Layout, Anwar Layout, Ambedkar Medical College, Sultan Palya, Rankanagar, Kanaka Nagar, and KHB Main Road.
Advisory: Residents in these areas are encouraged to plan ahead and minimise disruption to their daily activities during the specified hours. BESCOM has emphasised the importance of these maintenance activities for long-term power reliability.
✈️ Airport survey
Bengaluru is set to welcome its second international airport, with the Karnataka government in the process of finalising its location.
What’s it about? Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka Ltd (IDeCK) is conducting extensive surveys at proposed sites to identify the best location for the airport. The final decision will be made by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) after reviewing IDeCK’s recommendations.
- Among the sites under consideration is Kunigal, a town along National Highway 75, particularly the area between Dabaspet and Kunigal.
- Reports suggest the government is closely evaluating this location due to its strategic connectivity and suitability for accommodating future passenger traffic.
In the fray: Additionally, Tumkuru and its surrounding areas, including Dabaspet, are being explored as potential options. Dabaspet’s proximity to Tumkuru, which is rapidly developing as a major industrial hub in Asia with over 20,000 acres under development, strengthens its candidacy.
😋 10 min food delivery
Ola has launched a pilot program for 10-minute food delivery services in select areas of Bengaluru.
What’s it about? The service is available through the food delivery section of the Ola Cabs app, leveraging the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform. Pending the success of this pilot, Ola plans a nationwide rollout in the coming weeks.
- Currently, Ola offers food and beverage (F&B) services via ONDC in select cities, alongside grocery and pharmaceutical delivery.
- Ola ranks among the top two platforms in ONDC’s F&B segment.
Enhancing visibility: By leveraging its existing app infrastructure and ONDC’s open platform, Ola aims to streamline delivery logistics and attract consumers with faster turnaround times. This initiative also enhances the company’s visibility in high-growth sectors like quick commerce and food delivery, aligning with its ambition to scale operations and expand its market share.
