What’s it about? During their inspection, they instructed Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials to take preventive measures against flash floods and waterlogging. CM Siddaramaiah mentioned that more rains are expected in June, and BBMP officials have been directed to fill 5,500 potholes and take action against stormwater drain encroachments. Permission was obtained from the Election Commission for the tour due to the election code of conduct.

  • ₹1,800 crore has been allocated for stormwater drain construction and clearing encroachments.
  • Engineers will be held accountable if water enters houses during heavy rains.

Opposition criticises: The opposition labelled the inspections as a “gimmick,” criticising the leaders for their timing. They argued that the inspections were merely for media attention and questioned the lack of prior action.
